I truly believe this letter ("Sense of Purpose", sent early this year) from Larry Fink (CEO Black Rock) stands out as one of those defining moments that definitely shapes a new future for business environment and drives the concept of Purpose into the strategic agenda of most Corporations around the globe.
As somebody said "When Black Rock ($7 trillions assets, sort of twice the GDP of Germany...) speaks, the world listens".
Highlighting one of the statements: "Society is demanding that companies, both public and private, serve a social purpose. To prosper over time, every company must not only deliver financial performance, but also show how it makes a positive contribution to society. Companies must benefit all of their stakeholders, including shareholders, employees, customers, and the communities in which they operate".
